An Irish Jig

When the music stops for a moment, I realize my ears are ringing. Looking around, I watch people talking animatedly with each other, smiles never ceasing, feet begging to move. The music starts again, cheers rising from the crowd. Standing for a moment in the corner, I let the music wash over the crowd towards me, letting the moment sink in. This is what I’ve been looking for. This is bliss, being surrounded by friends and people who are happy to be alive. The music plays faster and I’m in the crowd, swirling, dreaming, happy.

Here’s to the new people I met and the happiness that we felt. An Irish proverb goes, “May your home be to small to hold all your friends.”

One day, my house will be overflowing.
